Jerome “Jerry” Patchen was appointed by order of the 16th judicial circuit court to a three year term on the Fluvanna County Electoral Board. By a February 23, 2011 court order, his term commenced March 1, 2011. A Copy of the Order was certified to the State Board of Elections.

A retired professor of computer information systems, Patches brings a wealth of government, public policy and business experience to the electoral board.  Besides being in management for New York and Virginia state governments for more than 30 years, he was director of the Policy, Planning & Program Development Division of Virginia’s Department of Medical Assistance Services. He has served on blue ribbon state government commissions within Virginia and was a consultant to the Council on Virginia’s Future. His peer-reviewed articles have appeared in numerous public policy journals. Patchen ran for Fluvanna Commissioner of the Revenue in 2007 and owns a historic farm in Palmyra.
