Change Order Issued for High School Published: December 28, 2011 At the Dec. 14 School Board meeting, Jonathan Hirst, Clerk of the Works, informed the Board that there would be an additional cost to the construction contract related to drinking water at the New High School. The costs are attributed to requirements imposed by the Virginia Department of Health and could not be anticipated in the design phase of the project as the final source of water had not yet been identified. The $185,708.77 of additional costs will provide improved access to the well head, additional water treatment, and additional infrastructure at the treatment plant. The costs will be charged to the contingency fund built into the construction budget and will not increase the approved budget limits for the New High School construction project.
