Published: February 08, 2012

Channing Snoddy, President, and Joan Talley Women’s Committee Chairman of Fluvanna County were among 91 Virginia Farm Bureau members who attended the 93rd American Farm Bureau Federation’s Annual Convention Jan. 8-11 in Honolulu.

The convention theme was “Navigating the Waves of Change,” and the event included presentations on the 2012 presidential elections, the 2012 Farm Bill and estate planning, among other topics. The keynote speaker was humorist and author Dave Barry.

The convention concluded with a meeting of voting delegates who worked to shape AFBF policies regarding topics such as immigration reform, air quality, water quality—including Chesapeake Bay legislation—and the 2012 Farm Bill.

Fluvanna County Farm Bureau is one of 88 county Farm Bureaus in the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation. With more than 150,000 members, VFBF is Virginia’s largest farmers’ advocacy group. Farm Bureau is a non-governmental, nonpartisan, voluntary organization committed to protecting Virginia’s farms and ensuring a safe, fresh and locally grown food supply.
