Scottsville’s Doug’s Maytag Wins Makeover Contest Published: May 18, 2011 Doug’s Maytag in Scottsville was recently told they won $4,000 as part of the Maytag Source Spring Makeover Contest. The shops had to take before, during and after photos to qualify for the contest. Starting in January, Doug’s Maytag entered the contest, sponsored by Brand Source, a national buy group that supports independent retailers and gives small companies buying power to compete with larger retailers, says Kelly Golder, owner of the Scottsville shop with her husband, Doug. So, what did they do? The shop gutted the old walls, added new insulation and drywall and changed the color scheme from dark, intense colors to a fresh, light spring green. The duo installed new energy efficient low voltage track lighting throughout the showroom and the appliances were rearranged to provide more inventory for customers. Additionally, the shop reduced prices and extended the hours of operation. Doug’s Maytag received the honor of Most Improved Spring Clean Contest winner. Doug Golder says he gives special thanks to Contractor Danny Browning for such an excellent job. “Danny’s work was on time and on budget, even with some unexpected turn of events. Danny is a true professional and I highly recommend his company,” Doug Golder says. Future plans for the store include a two-story addition, expanding the showroom and making the parts department more accessible. The owners are also moving their offices upstairs for better efficiency. The Golders say they would “like to thank all their customers for their patronage and continuous support.” Doug’s Maytag is at 695 Valley St. in the Town of Scottsville. It’s open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call (434) 286-2692 or visit http://dougsmaytag.brandsource.com for more information.
